Trip to Tassie – Wooden Boat Festival 2021
26/01/2021 - 28/02/2021
Like the owners of Land Rovers, particularly the series group, wooden boat owners are passionate about their boats. The festival is run by volunteers and is not a selling show but a display of all types of wooden boats. It’s a fantastic event.
This will be my fourth visit to the show, I plan to leave Canberra on 26 January 2021 and head down through Captains Flat, Numerella, Jindabyne and down Barry Way camping by the Snowy at one of the camps on the way down if possible. Hopefully follow the Snowy via Buchan and down to Marlo the entrance. The final route will be decided later in the year.
Head to Walkerville Foreshore Reserve for 2 nights. A quiet park on the foreshore with facilities and great walks, then into Melbourne on 30 January. I will be staying at the Middle Park Hotel, street parking, close to Spirit of Tasmania terminal. The cost was $120 for the night in 2019.
31 January – Catch the Spirit of Tasmania to Devonport making sure there is NO fresh fruit or veggies in car because quarantine will take the lot! Stay at Abel Tasman Caravan park (all facilities and a large unpowered area).
1 February – Shop in Devonport and check out lighthouse then head to Deloraine Apex Caravan park for 1 night then south past the Great Lake to Mt. Field National Park for 2 nights. Good, large camp with facilities. Great walks and drives,
4 February – Hobart Showground. The Showground is very large, rather windy in parts with facilities and a short walk to the bus or a longer walk down to Constitution dock for the festival.
I will then stay in Tassie for a few weeks before returning, probably NE corner but I may go back to the NW or then there is south, it’s all fabulous with short driving days and great things to see.
You are welcome to join or leave the trip at any time.
