This trip is now scheduled to occur on Sunday 21 April.
This trip was originally scheduled to occur on Sunday 7 April.
Due to track closures resulting from the recent hazard reduction burns and recent high rainfall which would have resulted in damage to the tracks it was decided to reschedule.
This will be a day trip into the Brindabella National Park.
Close to Canberra, and whether you’re a new or an old hand, it’s a chance to enjoy a day driving through the bush with some local fauna and flora.
The tracks we’ll take are TBC at this stage (we have a couple of options), but we’ll have an extended lunch break at Lowell’s Flat on the Goodradigbee River, so bring your camp chair.
There will be time to light the bbq, relax, and enjoy the river.
We’ll take the short route out, with a small detour to drive up to the top of Mt Coree. Hopefully the weather will be kind and we’ll get some good views.
A vehicle with low range and reasonable ground clearance is needed. The need for recovery is very unlikely, but bring your recovery gear just in case.
Please bring water, lunch, and snacks as there are no servicews available during the day.
There is an opportunity to go for a swim, so bring your swimmers and towel.

We will depart from Williamsdale, opposite the old service station at 09:30 on Anzac Day and head down in a loose convoy to Tom Groggin.
Topping up tanks is recommended at Jindabyne as this will be the last reliable fuel for the weekend. Traveling further south we will cross the Murray at Tom Groggin and head up the Tom Groggin Track, across to Mt Pinnibar and make camp at Gibsons Hut for the evening.
Friday morning we will head east and check out the Greens creek mining area and the shore of lake Dartmouth. If time permits we will head into Buchan for a look before returning to camp at Gibsons hut for another night.
Saturday we will head over in the general direction of Charlies Creek and depending on the weather we might head down the Kings Plain Track for a night on the river before breaking camp and heading home Sunday.
The trip leader is subject to being influenced by participants on camp sites and we have lots of choices so if anyone wants to do anything in particular let me know. We could skip the second night at Gibsons Hut and head across Limestone road and camp at The Poplars or Limestone creek as an alternative.
