Magic in the Mountains
08/12/2018 @ 8:00 am - 09/12/2018 @ 5:00 pm
We’ve been to Charlie Creek the hard way and the easy way – now it’s time for another way with a bit of hard and easy.
We’ll cross the Murray River at Tom Groggin and turn right onto Tom Groggin Track (we can’t go left because the section of track to Davies Hut will be closed for many months to come). We’ll follow Tom Groggin Track as it morphs into Mt Hope Road until we get to Buckwong Track. Following Buckwong Track, we’ll pass Buckwong Hut until we come to the junction of Misery Trail and Davies Plain Track – we’ll take the latter and follow it to Charlie Creek Campground – 50 km from our crossing of the Murray River.
Plenty of options – we could camp at Charlie Creek or continue on to Davies Hut and camp there, we’ll work it out as we go. And we have options on the way out too – Mt Pinnibar anybody?
Some may want to leave on Friday and camp at Tom Groggin, having a relaxing Saturday morning until the rest arrive about lunchtime.
Trip is graded medium but some sections may be difficult.
